This document/set of terms can be accessed on a company’s website (usually via a link that can be viewed on every page of the site) and sets out the terms on which a website user (and potentially a new or existing customer of the company) uses the website and accesses the information the company provides through that website. This document contains terms to deal with user generated and links to the websites’ acceptable use policy.

This document informs the user who the company are, the parties’ rights and restrictions around the use of the company’s website, including IP rights, the impact of third party links and sites that may be included in the content of the website, who is liable for what, how the user can complain, and the laws that govern the relationship (in this case, the document assumes that the company is incorporated in the UK and that English law applies).
