Docue Referral Scheme Terms

Updated on 9 February 2024

As a business customer of Docue, we welcome you to our referral scheme. The following terms and conditions apply to the scheme - please read them carefully and in their entirety. The terms and conditions will be deemed to constitute a referral agreement between Docue Technologies UK Ltd and the company making the referral (i.e. the company whose account has a personalised referral code activated).

How to recommend Docue - a discount for a friend, a referral fee for you (and it costs nothing)

  1. Activate a personalised referral code for your company in our service.

  2. Send the code to your friend/connection who is not yet a customer of Docue. Feel free to direct them to this page for instructions on using the code and basic information about Docue.

  3. Your friend can try the service for free by opening a trial account.

  4. If they want to start a subscription, when placing an order, they can enter the code they received from you as a discount coupon and redeem a 30% discount for the first year as a customer (“New Customer Discount”).

  5. Your company can receive a £200 (+VAT) reward for each referral which leads to a paid subscription with Docue (“Referral Fee”).

The Referral Fee is payable in respect of all annual subscriptions listed in the price list, regardless of the plan. The New Customer Discount is calculated from the fixed annual fee according to the price list, without any subsequent one-time charges.

How to use the referral code

You can get your personalised referral code from the Docue application by clicking on the "Refer a friend" button.

Your friend can place an order within the app using the usual purchase path. The code received from you is entered here (instructions for the recipient of the code also here):

It is possible to distribute the code to several parties at the same time, and all customers activated with the code are entitled to a New Customer Discount (and you a Referral Fee).

If the code has not been used to activate the subscription at the time of ordering, there is no right to a New Customer Discount or Referral Fee.

Customers who subsequently cancel a subscription using our seven-day general cancellation right are not entitled to a New Customer Discount (and you will not be entitled to a Referral Fee in relation to such customers).

The target of the scheme is new customers - the following criteria must be met

The goal of the referral scheme is to get new companies and entrepreneurs into the service, so the entities that are the target of the referral must meet the following conditions:

  • no current or previous paid subscription to the Docue service (including using a different email address or alias);

  • not a group company of a current or previous customer of Docue; and/or

  • no owners who jointly own more than 50% of the company being referred and simultaneously own more than 50% of another company that is a current or previous customer of Docue.

Docue has the right to check that the eligibility requirements are met even retrospectively after the Referral Fee has been paid. Docue reserves the right to terminate a user’s involvement in the scheme if Docue suspects that there is any abuse of the scheme.

Who can refer and how?

All companies that have a paid annual subscription to our service and are liable for VAT are welcome to the referral scheme. VAT is paid on top of Referral Fees, which your company is obliged to report to HMRC.

Our referral scheme is intended for referrals within small, closed communities. Marketing in, for example, public blogs, coupon websites, large social media communities and other mass distribution without Docue's permission is prohibited. The communication must be consistent with Docue's own communication and terms of use and comply with all applicable laws and good industry practices.

You are permitted to pass on the referral code within the aforementioned framework (e.g. to a subcontractor who passes on the code to their own customers), but your company is responsible for ensuring that the recipient is aware of the rules of permitted communication.

The communication must not create the impression that the referrer represents Docue as an employee, consultant or partner.

How to get your referral fee - as a starting point, credit off your next payments

Unless otherwise stated, Referral Fees will be credited to your company automatically in future billing for the use of our service. The credit will be activated for your future payments 30 days after the referral code entitling the credit has been used for a new subscription. If the credit exceeds the total amount of the next invoice, the payable portion will be zero and the remaining credit will be credited against future payments.

As an alternative to credit, you can receive the Referral Fee as a cash payment by sending your bank account information (a qualifying UK bank account is required) to billing@docue.com under the title “Referral scheme - [your company name]”. Payment is made 90 days after the referral code entitling a Referral Fee has been used for an order, or, if later, 90 days after you notified us of your account information in accordance with the above instructions.

The Referral Fee is paid on the condition that your company, and the customer whose order was activated with the referral code, have no overdue, open purchase debts or other debts to Docue on the day the Referral Fee is paid.

Modification and validity of these terms and conditions

Docue can amend or withdraw the referral scheme at any time.

This referral contract, and your entitlement to receive Referral Fees, automatically ends without notice if your company's paid annual subscription to our service ends.

Docue can also change these terms and conditions at any time, but the Referral Fee must be paid for already activated customers in accordance with the terms that were in place before the change.

An e-mail notification of changes will be made to the admin users of the Docue account of the company making referrals unless the changes are minor or in favour of the scheme participant.

The laws of England and Wales govern these terms and conditions.
